Java is for using the decrypter to see the pictures. And yes, just download Java, it's free.
Then you download the decrypter (should be this one :

). And then you can launch the program and decrypt the content of any RPGM game.

Unfortunatly the issue is that the mod bugs your game and savedata. The only solution found so far is to delete:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\User Data
Including your saves as they are tainted. Either start from the beginning or use saves that match up with the version you where at.
I beleive Alpine Eagle has a very nice save game repository.
